If you haven’t yet heard of the “Downing Street Minutes” (aka “Downing Street Memo), that’s understandable. This remarkable document hasn’t made much of a splash in the mainstream media, and certainly isn’t as flashy as the Michael Jackson trial.
If you’re okay with the explanations to how we got into the mess in Iraq, don’t bother to read any further.
If you’d rather just watch American Idol and not be bothered, then please move on.
If you’re “tired of liberal whining” about the state of America’s reputation in the world, then by all means skip to the end.
If you thought seeing “Farenheit 9/11″ in a movie theatre was doing your part to fight the lack of accountability in the current administration — don’t bother coming back to read this blog again, please.
But, if you’d like to take some kind of action to hold the Bush administration accountable for their actions, then please visit Senator John Conyers’ website and sign his letter asking the Neo-Cons to come clean.
If you’d like to get informed about this first, I applaud you. Please visit www.DowningStreetMemo.com and get up to speed.
After your outrage has cooled, do go to Rep. Conyers’ site and sign that letter. He needs 100,000 signatures, and yours counts.
Want to do more? Forward Rep. Conyers’ letter to your congressional representative in Washington DC. Check your local area information to find an email address. Better yet, print out copies, sign them, and send them to all the office addresses your congressperson has.
Leadership like John Conyers’ Jr. offers is a rarity in today’s House, which makes supporting his efforts to bring honesty and accountability to the White House a refreshing and welcome change. If you have the spare funds around, do consider contributing to the man’s campaign fund — put your money where his mouth is! And perhaps, just maybe, we’ll get more like him in that body, and in the Senate as well.
