I’ve been invaded by an unwelcome and nasty intestinal bug that’s pretty much sapping any energy I have to do original or creative work today. So instead of struggling to produce something substandard, I’d rather refer you to the article on Alternet.org which is embedded in the title.

In case you missed it, it’s The Foreign Language of Choice, by George Lakoff. Here’s the teaser:

Winning the debate over unwanted pregnancies requires Democrats to embrace four powerfully moral ideas — and none of them have to do with ‘choice.’

And here’s Lakoff’s listed bio:

George Lakoff is the author of
Don’t Think of an Elephant: Know Your Values and Frame the Debate
(Chelsea Green). He is professor of linguistics at the University of California at Berkeley and a Senior Fellow of the Rockridge Institute.

I happen to agree with Lakoff’s premise and urge everyone not only to read this article, but purchase and read his book. It’s a very good launchpad for making progressive inroads into mainstream American consciousness.
