7 Mysteries

7 Mysteries7 Mysteries Book Cover

If you’re a return visitor to this page, you’re going to notice right away that it’s different. It no longer reads like a bad [tag]direct marketing[/tag] pitch. I’d like to extend my apologies to you, if you’ve been here before and actually read through that. It was awful — I took what turned out to be bad advice from a source I truly believed to be more knowledgeable about such things than I. It was just one in a series of pretty horrible mistakes in the treatment and promotion of what had originally been a true “labor of love.”

What’s important to know about [tag]7 Mysteries[/tag] is that it originated as a doctoral thesis on a phenomenon I’d noticed for some time, namely “Why are there so many sets of [tag]seven[/tag] things in human culture? Why does seven make such a tidy set delimiter for these things? Why does it occur again and again, throughout cultures and across time?”

As I began looking into the information, I was astonished to find that there actually was, and is, an answer. The deeper I delved into sets of seven from all walks of life, the surer I became that I was really and truly on to something — something that had never before been written or talked about in quite this way.

“This is simply amazing! I’d heard about threes and sevens all my life, of course, but I just never knew that there were reasons why those things happen in threes. I finally understand something about my life that’s puzzled me for ages — thank you!”
– Carolyn Davis, San Diego CA

In short, what I found in each “7 set” was an invitation to a mysterious journey. Encoded in them, no matter how silly or sublime, were paths — from the place you are now, wherever that is, to someplace better, more loving, more inclusive, [tag]transcendent[/tag]. They weren’t “maps,” which will show you a destination and imply something of the terrain between you and it. They were simply sign-markers that notify you there is an unknown to be explored, a [tag]quest[/tag] to be undertaken.

Each path, journey, quest is as unique as the individual undertaking it, and I could no more explain the specific ins and outs of yours than I could catalog every star personally, by hand. What I could do — and did do, in writing 7 Mysteries — was show you how to interpret the signposts along the way for yourself, then give you numerous examples how to go about it.

  • The Seven [tag]Chakras[/tag]
  • The Seven Levels of Mastery
  • The Seven Sisters of the [tag]Pleiades[/tag]
  • The Seven Levels of the Tree of [tag]Yggdrasil[/tag]
  • The Seven-fold Path of the [tag]Lord’s Prayer[/tag]
  • The Seven Colors of the Rainbow
  • The Seven Lucky Gods of Japan
  • The Seven Valleys of Search
  • The Kabbalistic [tag]Tree of Life[/tag]
  • The Seven Sages of Ancient Greece
  • The Seven Dwarves
  • The Seven Wonders of the World
  • The Seven Castaways of Gilligan’s Isle
  • There really are many more…

You can use these paths, any one of them or many of them, to walk yourself (symbolically) right out of the neuroses that have limited you, the addictions that plague you, the bad relationships that suck the light and happiness out of your life. They are [tag]meditation[/tag]s, [tag]contemplation[/tag]s, [tag]prayer[/tag]s — the toolkit of [tag]modern mystic[/tag]s and everyone who truly desires to lead a better, happier, more fulfilled life.

“Overall impression is `wow, what did I do to deserve this?’ Yes, it is well written. The message is important/useful/mind-opening.”
– Rev. Kihe Blackeagle, Houston TX

A Modern Mystic's Prayer Beads Because I love beadwork and have admired rosaries from all religions I thought that sets of [tag]prayer beads[/tag] would be a huge help in doing this kind of contemplative work. The Modern Mystic’s Prayer Beads aren’t absolutely necessary to the work itself; they’re merely an assistive device that also happens to be symbolically powerful. I included instructions on how to make your own set of Modern Mystic’s Prayer Beads in the book, though we do accept special orders for customized sets here at [tag]Metaphors For Life[/tag]. Unless otherwise specified each set uses the 7 colors of the rainbow repeated 7 times, with the anchor piece drawn from whatever religious symbol set is desired.

A Modern Mystic's Prayer Beads

“While [Dr. Matson is] not the first to do comparative analyses of this kind, I must admit that [she] may be the first to decode the transcendent enigma of 7. I’m pleased to see how [she's] broadening the reach of the comparisons that have already been published by other authors. Well done, and when [is she] releasing [her] next book?” — Norman Owens, Rochester MN

To conclude, if you’re interested in the work I’ve done on interpreting 7 Mysteries, or in crafting one of these uniquely beautiful prayer bead sets for yourself, $10 isn’t much to spend in order to have this kind of information at your fingertips. The material in the book isn’t a “magic wand” to [tag]spiritual[/tag] [tag]enlightenment[/tag] or even personal improvement — there are none, no matter what that next direct marketing sales pitch tells you. What you will get is one of the best toolkits I can give you to help you find your way into a better, happier, healthier life.

With warmest regards to you, and wishing you a bliss-filled journey,

Reverend Alesia Matson, D.D.
